There are currently 66 students enrolled at the Pre-Kindergarten through Third grade elementary school in Monticello, and they will be bussed to Houlton starting this fall.

There are also six teachers and several support staff at Wellington. It's not clear what will happen to their positions as of yet, but most are expected to remain employed by RSU 29.

Superintendant Mike Hammer says the district will save  an estimated $188,000 by closing the Wellington School.
