Police in Washington County are investigating a shooting which may be drug related.

Calais Police Chief David Randall says officers were dispatched to Baring Street just before 10:30 this morning after a 17-year-old teenage boy said he'd been assaulted at a residence on South Street.

The teenager, who is from Amsterdam, New York, said he heard a gunshot as he fled the home.

Just after 10:30, a man, identified as 38-year-old Tony McLaughlin of Calais, arrived at Calais Regional Hospital with a gunshot wound.

Randall says the firearm used was recovered at another residence in Calais and the Maine State Police were called in to investigate the crime scene located at South Street.
