The search for 58-year-old Michael Babin started when police received a call around 11:15 p.m. Thursday that he was missing from his boat. The 32-foot sailboat was located drifting on the water between Dalhousie and Miguasha, Quebec.

Northeast District RCMP with assistance from Restigouche Ground Search and Rescue, Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, Auxiliary Coast Guard and several local residents searched  for the missing boater in the Baie des Chaleurs.

RCMP say the man’s body was found just off the shore in Dalhousie.

An autopsy will be done to determine the exact cause of death.  At this time foul play is not suspected.
