As he watched his lovely fiancée Gabi Dugal get her dress hemmed (for their upcoming walk down the ACM Awards red carpet), Scotty McCreery admitted to Taste of Country that he's getting a tad nervous. Not for the awards show, but rather his upcoming wedding.

“It’s coming up before we know it,” says the country singer, who is still on a high over the chart-topping success of "Five More Minutes" — the highest ranking single of his career.

"The countdown is on. I think the stress level is rising just a bit because the wedding is pretty soon," McCreery admits, adding with a chuckle when pressed for details: "Let’s just say it’s coming up quickly."

"The invites are heading out and we are doing some taste tests here in the next week or so," he shares. "The last few days I’ve gotten a handful of things done here in North Carolina. Like, one of my many responsibilities has been getting the wine.  We are getting them from the Biltmore, so I’ve been busy doing that."

All indications are that Dugal is the sort of girl that takes all of this last minute work in stride, but she's getting nervous too.

"I’m excited but it’s starting to turn into a bit of a nervous excitement for the both of us as the date gets closer,” McCreery explains, adding that both he and Dugal will be wearing customized wedding rings very soon. "It’s a huge step for us. I mean, we have truly grown up together and I look forward to learning even more about each other once we are married. I’m excited to come home to her instead of a house filled with guys. I mean, I love my guys but ..."

Until that moment where they actually get to walk down the aisle, the couple is simply looking forward to walking down the red carpet at the 2018 ACM Awards this Sunday (April 15.) "I'm excited," he says. "It will be Gabi's first time to walk the red carpet with me at the ACM Awards."

McCreery is also super excited to see his American Idol castmate and New Female Vocalist of the Year winner Lauren Alaina, who is up for Vocal Event of the Year alongside Kane Brown for their song "What Ifs."

"I’ve said from the beginning that she has one of the best voices in Nashville, so seeing her incredible talent be recognized is really cool," McCreery says. Who knows? Maybe Alaina will be cheering for him come next ACM Awards.

"You never know," admits the singer, whose new Seasons Change album hit No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart earlier this year. "Of course it would be awesome to be recognized like that but at the end of the day, it’s an award show. The real thing that's important to me is that I am out there doing my music for my fans that continue to come out to my shows."
