Saturday is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day
Maine’s semi-annual Prescription Drug Take-Back drive is going on Saturday, April 27. Law enforcement agencies throughout Aroostook County and around the state will be open and available from 10 to 2 in most places to collect your old prescription drugs.
There will be a large drop box at each site where you can safely dispose of unwanted, unused prescription or over-the-counter medications with no questions asked.
This is a great way to reduce the risk of prescription drug diversion and abuse and ensures environmentally safe disposal.
During the last Prescription Drug Take-Back in September 2012, Maine collected nearly 7 tons of old medications. The Maine Attorney General’s Office said that per capita, Maine had the largest collection in the nation.
