Kane Brown Shocked When Sam Hunt Covers ‘Used to Love You Sober’ Live
Hunt covered Brown's "Used to Love You Sober" during his set at Tortuga Music Festival in Fort Lauderdale. He only played a snippet of the country newcomer's current single, but it was enough to make Brown excited.
"About to go on at my show and get a text of Sam Hunt doing my song used to love you sober at a music festival!! This is crazy," Brown wrote on his Facebook page when he received the news.
Hunt did the catchy tune justice, making it his own with his smooth and higher-pitched voice. The crowd was singing along with Hunt, obviously enjoying the rendition.
The cover was a part of a series of songs Hunt did during his set. He pulled a line of stools across the stage and paid homage to modern day country stars who are making their own path in the country music world. The 31-year-old Georgia native, with the rest of his band, acoustically covered a slew of current songs that are playing on the radio, including Brown's track, as well as Dierks Bentley's "Somewhere on a Beach" and Thomas Rhett's "T-Shirt."
Hunt's camaraderie for his fellow artists was a great addition to his set and was great exposure for his counterparts, as well.
"Used to Love You Sober" is Brown's debut single off his freshman EP Chapter 1. He is gearing up to head on the road with Florida Georgia Line as an opener for their Dig Your Roots Tour, which kicks off in May.
