A 38-year-old man from Rusagonis, N.B. has been sentenced to 7 ½ months in jail and has been banned from driving for six years after being convicted of impaired driving.

Oromocto RCMP responded late Sunday afternoon to two reports of a pickup truck swerving on Rusagonis Road, narrowly missing oncoming traffic.

Officers administered a breathalyzer test to the driver, which showed a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit, according to Sgt. Jean Devost. The driver was arrested at the scene and the truck was impounded.

William Keays of Rusagonis appeared in court on Monday and was charged with impaired driving and driving while prohibited. On Thursday, he pled guilty and was sentenced to 180 days in jail for impaired driving.

Keays also received 40 days in jail for driving while prohibited, and has been banned from driving for six years.
