On Saturday, November 19th the public is invited to a reception and Rotary program that will include a Paul Harris Fellow recognition.

The reception begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Northern Maine Community College Edmunds library with hors d’oeuvres, carved tenderloin of beef, potato station, cobblers and a cash bar.  Comfort foods and comfort clothes—wear your favorite plaid shirt or jacket!!

That will be followed at 6:30 by a meeting featuring special guests Maurice Henri, Cameras for Healing and David C. Forward, New Jersey Rotarian and author of Doing Good in the World.  Henri, of Moncton, New Brunswick, is an internationally-known photographer who will speak about his not-for profit organization which supports emotional healing through cultivating creativity for those living with pain, grief, fear, poverty or stress.  Forward will discuss Rotary’s and his own humanitarian efforts around the world, most notably the Dominican Republic, Romania and India.

A highlight of the evening will be the designation of a Paul Harris Fellow to Presque Isle Rotarian Matt McHatten.  McHatten is the Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer, Secretary and Clerk of MMG Insurance.  He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and Finance from the University of Maine Business School.   McHatten is Chair of the University of Maine College of Business Advisory Board; a member of the University of Maine Foundation, a member of the Advisory Board for the Maine Center for Graduate Professional Studies and a Board member of the Aroostook Partnership.  Matt and his wife, Kelly, reside in Mapleton with their daughters, Shaye and Paige.

A Paul Harris Fellow recognition is the Rotary Foundation’s way of expressing its appreciation for a substantial contribution to its humanitarian and educational programs.  Rotarians often designate a Paul Harris Fellow as a tribute to a person whose life demonstrates a shared purpose with the objectives of the Rotary Foundation—goodwill, peace and understanding.  The recipient can be a Rotarian or non-Rotarian.

The cost of the event is $25 per person—please contact Floyd Rockholt at 207-551-8342 or e-mail eaglehill@mfx.net  by November 16.

Proceeds from the evening will go to Project GIIVE, a water sanitation project in Guatemala.
