Having first appeared, to great acclaim, at the Veterans’ Thanksgiving Dinner on November 20, 2015, “Rose and the Burdock Bush” will make a limited return engagement for the Elks Family Christmas Dinner starting at 11:00 a.m. on Christmas Day at the Elks Lodge in Presque Isle, Maine.

Seventeen year-old “Rose”, also known as Stephanie Winslow, daughter of Willie and Nancy Winslow of Castle Hill, Maine, will bring her talent as an accomplished flutist and female vocalist to the stage along with the all male, more aged, musical rabble often referred to as the “Soggy Bottom Boyz”.

For the “Boyz”, comprised of Leland Clark, James “Sheldon” Wright, Peter Parker, Dale Hudson, Wendell Hudson, and other friends, this will be the eleventh consecutive Christmas Day on which they have donated their time and musical ability at the Elks Family Christmas Dinner to make Christmas brighter and more joyous for people who might otherwise have been spending Christmas alone.

“Rose” or Stephanie Winslow has in recent years generously donated her time and musical energy whenever called upon to do so, which is becoming increasingly more frequent.

According to Elks Exalted Ruler Alan Harding, there is still an open invitation for anyone who would otherwise be spending Christmas alone to join many others in enjoying the musical treats of “Rose and the Burdock Bush”, as well as a traditional Christmas feast at the Presque Isle Elks Lodge, 508 Main Street, in Presque Isle. Transportation can be arranged by calling the lodge at 764-0985. The music, food, transportation and parting gifts are all provided free as a Christmas gift from the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge #1954, its members and supporters from the community.
