Restless Heart have released a cover of "Wichita Lineman," in honor of one of their musical heroes, Glen Campbell.

Their "Wichita Lineman" cover is Restless Heart's first new release in three years; press play below to hear it. Jimmy Webb wrote the song, which Campbell released in 1968, after being inspired by the sight of a lone telephone lineman working on the top of a telephone pole in Washita County, Okla.

“This song came about, really, from wondering what that was like, what it would be like to be working up on a telephone pole, and what would you be talking about?” Webb says. “Was he talking to his girlfriend? Probably just doing one of those checks where they called up and said, ‘Mile marker 46,’ you know. ‘Everything’s working so far.'”

Thirty years ago, Restless Heart and Campbell crossed paths while playing on a Mississippi riverboat, and the country icon suggested to the group then that they should tackle one of Webb's songs.

"We were blessed to work with Glen on a number of show dates throughout the years. It is an honor to know one of the finest talents of our time," says Restless Heart's Larry Stewart in a press release. "In honor of Glen, Restless Heart could record no greater song than "Wichita Lineman.""

Since 2011, Campbell has been battling Alzheimer’s disease. In early March, his wife Kim shared that her husband is now in Stage 7 of the disease and is no longer able to verbally communicate.
