The Red Sox have announced that manager John Farrell's cancer is in remission. And, NESN has announced Jerry Remy will be back in the broadcast booth next year.

A busy day around Fenway Park on an idle day during the MLB playoffs.

Farrell will speak to reporters in a conference call today and receiving word on Wednesday that post-treatment tests were encouraging and that his cancer is in remission.

Remember new Sox president Dave Dombrowski announced on the final day of the season that Farrell would return as Sox manager provided he made a full recovery.

Meanwhile, NESN says longtime color analyst Jerry Remy would return for a 29th year. He signs a new deal that has him working at least 100 games on TV next year.

Dennis Eckersley and Steve Lyons will also work with new play-by-play man Dave O'Brien.

NESN says it was go with a three man booth at times, rotating Remy, Eck and Lyons.

Late in the season, NESN announced it was not bringing back longtime PBP man Don Orsillo, causing a public outcry. Orsillo will call games for the San Diego Padres next season.
