The Maine Law Enforcement Torch Run (for Special Olympics) paid respect to Officer Chris Gardner who passed away Tuesday.

On their Facebook page above, The Maine Law Enforcement Torch Run (for Special Olympics) remembers Gardner and gives tribute to his work with the MDEA, LETR and at UMaine. Here's part of the post:

It is with great sadness and regret that I must announce the passing of Special Agent Chris Gardner. Chris passed away early this morning at EMMC. Though there is no official cause of death at this point, it was likely cardiac in nature. Chris, who was 47 at the time of his passing, was a University of Maine Police Officer who had been on assignment to MDEA’s North Central Task Force in Bangor for the past 9 ½ years."

Commander Peter A. Arno of the Department of Public Safety said information and arrangements will be updated on Facebook and added:

I will send out more information regarding funeral arrangements etc. as soon as they become available. This is a tremendous loss for the law enforcement community. Please keep Chris, his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers."
