Jerry Reed passed away, August 31, 2008 at 71. He was a legend in Smokey And The Bandit - and had many country hits. "When You're Hot, You're Hot" & "East Bound and Down" are two of his greatest songs. They are our Classic Country Songs of the Day.

"When You're Hot, You're Hot" was #1 in the U.S. and Canada in 1971, and Jerry Reed won the Grammy for Best Male Country Vocal Performance for the smash hit song.

"East Bound and Down" is probably his biggest song. In 1977, it didn't get any better than Smokey and The Bandit, and Reed had the giant song on the soundtrack. Jerry was in a lot of movies - Smokey and The Bandit II and the Dukes of Hazard to name a few.

Here is is doing the trucker's them song on TV. Check out the awesome guitar work.
