The West District RCMP is investigating after two separate churches reported the theft of bells.

Sometime between July 16 and July 24, someone removed the bell from the top of St. Paul's Anglican Church on Highway 540 in Kirkland, about 30 kilometres southwest of Woodstock. The theft was reported to the RCMP on July 24On July 25, police recovered a church bell from a scrapyard in Fredericton. It was originally believed to be that missing from the Kirkland church. However, that same day, the Kirk Church in Northampton, about 18 kilometres south of Woodstock, reported its church bell was also stolen sometime between July 23 and 25. The bell recovered in Fredericton was determined to belong to the Northampton church. The Kirkland bell is still missing.

Anyone with information about either theft, or who knows where the Kirkland bell is now, is asked to contact the Woodstock Detachment of the RCMP at 506-325-3000 or their local police.
