The death of a woman whose body was found after a fire in northern New Brunswick is being treated as suspicious.


Firefighters discovered the body in a burned-out home after responding to call in Val-d'Amour Saturday morning, according to Constable Hans Ouellette of the RCMP in New Brunswick. Campbellton RCMP were called to the home around 8:45 a.m.

The RCMP's major crime unit is investigating and sent a forensic identification unit to the scene on Saturday. Val-d'Amour is a small community just south of Campbellton.

Police have not yet identified the woman.
