A 26-year-old Quebec man has been charged with drug trafficking in New Brunswick after his vehicle was pulled over on Highway 17 near Saint-Quentin on Tuesday.

RCMP say a search of the car led to the discovery of substantial quantities of what is believed to be cocaine and methamphetamine, as well as varying amounts of steroids and marijuana.

Johnathan Fortin of Montreal, Q.C. appeared in court on Wednesday and was charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, according to Sgt. Rheo Michaud of the Saint-Quentin RCMP.

Fortin has been remanded in custody pending a bail hearing on Monday, April 3.

The investigation is continuing.
