The Boston Red Sox decided to keep ace David Price home in Ft Myers to pitch a simulated game while other players went to Tampa to play the Yankees. Why give them a free showing of the new number one guy.

Price threw 38 pitches over two innings in a simulation game against teammates Pablo Sandoval, Chris Young, Rusney Castillo, Ryan Hannigan and David Murphy.

Both catcher Christian Vazquez and pitching coach Carl Willis reported that Price looked very sharp.

Meanwhile, two hours away in Tampa, Mookie Betts hit a leadoff triple (see below) and scored a run. But, the Yankees beat the Sox 6-4.

Betts and Jackie Bradley Jr were the only two everyday starters to make the trip. The Yanks used most of their everyday lineup.
