Presque Isle Police on Friday captured a man wanted in Kennebec County, Maine on drug trafficking charges, along with his wife on unrelated charges.

According to Police Chief Matt Irwin, PIPD received a call that 29-year-old Anthony Cappuccio and 22-year-old Alyssa Cappuccio were at a residence in Presque Isle. When officers arrived, the suspects fled out the back door, Irwin said. Presque Isle police gave chase while Maine State troopers, along with a K9 team and Maine Game Wardens arrived to assist.

As five law enforcement officers and a canine were in “hot pursuit,” PIPD dispatch received a 911 call from a man saying he was being threatened by “five men with guns” at an address across town.

Suspiciously, the location of the caller’s cell phone mapped back to the area of the manhunt, Irwin said. Once captured, Anthony Cappuccio provided his contact information, which turned out to be the same number as the 911 call. His wife was captured soon thereafter.

Presque Isle Police say Anthony Cappuccio had failed to appear for his sentencing in Kennebec County for three separate drug trafficking charges. Alyssa Cappuccio had a warrant for operating after suspension, according to Chief Irwin

They now face additional charges in Aroostook County of Misuse of the 911 System, Making a False Report and Failing to Submit.
