State Police say 34-year-old Mark Forino was driving on Route 163 in T11 R4 near the Ashland town line when a moose entered the roadway.

Forino, operating a 2006 Toyota Sienna van, was unable to avoid the moose and struck the animal head on.  The moose crashed through the windshield and into the passenger compartment of the van, narrowly missing Forino.

State Police said Forino was not injured in the collision but emergency personnel flushed broken glass from his eyes at the scene.  The moose was killed in the crash.

Ashland Ambulance, Ashland Fire and Ashland Police Departments also responded to the scene.   State Police say Forino was wearing his seat belt.
