At the Elks’ State Hoop Shoot foul shooting competition held at the Bangor High School on Sunday, January 31, Faith Sjoberg, of Presque Isle, won the Alan W. Richard Trophy, which is awarded to the champion female Hoop Shoot contestant for the State of Maine.  In winning her division for 10 and 11 year-old girls, Faith sank 22 of 25 foul shots attempted, which was the top score for all girls in the State competition.  That score also happened to equal the top score for all the boys in the State competition.

As the champion Hoop Shooter for the State of Maine in her division, Faith qualified for the New England Regional Hoop Shoot competition to be held in Portland, on March 19.  Faith will be competing against the State winners from all other New England states.

Faith is the daughter of Kevin and Susan Sjoberg of Presque Isle.  She attends the Presque Isle Middle School.
