To say that Red Sox starter Drew Pomeranz struggled would be an understatement. An 8-3 Sunday night loss to the Detroit Tigers in which Pomeranz gave up six runs in 4.1 innings.

He threw 93 pitches in that time, allowing eight hits and two walks.

Heath Hembree wasn't much better when he came in from the bullpen.

The big blow - a Justin Upton grand slam that hit the Pesky Pole in rightfield.

The Sox offense managed 12 hits but was only 4-for-15 with runners in scoring position.

At 34-28, the Sox begin a four game home-and-home series with the lowly Philadelphia Phillies.
