Maine State Police have joined the search for a 22-year-old man who apparently eluded police officers and stole a Dexter Police cruiser late Friday morning.

The fully marked white Ford Explorer was stolen around 11:30 Friday morning and was later found abandoned along the Parkman Road in Garland, according to State Police spokesman Steve McCausland.

The suspect is identified as Tyler Tibbetts of LaGrange, who allegedly fled from custody in handcuffs. State Police say he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Tibbets is described as 5’9”, weighs 130 lbs. with brown hair and hazel eyes and has the word “obey” tattooed on his neck.

He was last seen wearing tan shorts and a salmon-colored tee shirt.

Anyone who sees Tibbetts should call 911 immediately, McCausland said.
