Maine State Police are asking for information as they investigate a burglary and theft at the Patten Recreation Department.

On Monday, employees with the Town of Patten discovered that the Rec. Center on Founders Street had been burglarized.

State Police say that a person or persons forced their way into the building and caused a considerable amount of damage inside. According to Sgt. Josh Haines, a number of items were stolen from the recreation center including money.

The value of the damage and items stolen is approximately $4000, Sgt. Haines said.

This is the second time in recent months that the Patten Recreation Center has been burglarized.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Trooper Jared Sylvia at the Maine State Police Barracks in Houlton at 532-5400.
