The crash occurred at approximately 3 a.m. in Oakland, New Brunswick, just south of Florenceville-Bristol.

The vehicle was traveling on the Oakland Road when the driver lost control on a curve, according to Cpl. Lloyd Harquail of the Woodstock RCMP. The vehicle went off the road and crashed into a utility pole.

A 21-year-old man from Perth-Andover, who was a passenger, died at the scene. Two other people in the vehicle suffered injuries and were taken by ambulance to the hospital.

The RCMP says that the preliminary investigation indicates that alcohol may have been a contributing factor.  At the time of the crash, the roads were dry and free of debris.

The name of the victim is not being released at this time pending proper notification of his family.
