About 35 families living in the flood plain chose to leave their homes last Wednesday because of the elevated flood risk. The situation also forced authorities to close the Hotel Dieu Hospital and to set up an emergency shelter at the Perth-Andover School Middle School.

On Sunday, a massive ice jam upriver in Grand Falls passed safely through Perth-Andover before stalling at the dam above Beechwood.  Officials say the water is flowing freely under the ice jam and water levels continue to go down. NB Power and Emergency Measures Organization continue to monitor the situation.

Route 105 to Tobique First Nation also opened on Sunday after being threatened by ice and water.  The hospital is expected to re-open soon.

The village of Perth-Andover was hit hard by flood waters in March of 2012.

Meanwhile, down river an ice jam remained in place at Bull's Creek, causing elevated water levels in the Woodstock area.

New Brunswick Riverwatch continues to monitor areas of Fredericton, Maugerville, Jemseg and Quispamsis where the waters are expected to remain above flood stage through the day Monday.
