Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia underwent successful knee surgery on Thursday on his left knee.

The 33-year old had a partial medial meniscectomy and chondroplasty on his left knee, according to a release by the Red Sox.  The procedure was performed by the team's Head Orthopedist Dr. Peter Asnis.

Pedroia is expected to be ready for the 2017 season in the spring after his rehab.  He is a lifetime .301 hitter with 133 home runs and 134 stolen bases.  Pedroia will enter his 12th season in the MLB in 2017
