Patriots Sign TE Davis, Cut CB Arrington
The New England Patriots continued to re-tool its roster Monday with the release of corner back Kyle Arrington moments after signing tight end Fred Davis.While the team might be in the market for a quarterback if Tom Brady gets suspended, the moves today will certainly surprise some fans and analysts. Arrington has spent 6 of his 7 years in the league with the Patriots where he tied for the league lead in interceptions in 2011. Last season he started 14 games and made 39 tackles. The move will save the Pats just over $4.5 million on the salary cap.
Below are the 5 corner backs remaining on the roster.
|21||Butler, Malcolm||2||West Alabama|
|34||Chekwa, Chimdi||4||Ohio State|
New England has signed another tight end to the roster as Fred Davis has agreed to a one year deal. Davis was reinstated last week after missing last season as part of an indefinite suspension for violating the leagues substance abuse policy. Davis claims he tested positive for a banned substance found in a supplement he was taking.
The 29 year old is a former second round pick and played 72 games for the Redskins with over 2,000 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns.
