Patriots Destroy Colts, 45-7, to Win AFC Championship! [PHOTOS]
The New England Patriots are heading back to the Super Bowl for the sixth time during the Tom Brady/Bill Belichick era after the Pats trounced the Indianapolis Colts, 45-7, in the AFC Championship Game Sunday night!
Brady threw for three touch downs and 226 yards. Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount also ran for three touch downs and 148 yards. Colts Quarterback Andrew Luck ended up having a frustrating day thanks to the Patriots defense which never allowed the Colts to get their offense going.
The closest the Colts ever came was 14-7 after Brady threw his one interception in the second quarter when a pass intended for Rob Gronkowski was intercepted. The Patriots then ran away with this one in the second half by scoring 38 unanswered points. The torrential downpours that fell throughout the game at Gillette Stadium were never a factor.
Now the Patriots will have two weeks to prepare for their next and final opponent, the Seattle Seahawks, who are also the defending Super Bowl Champions. The Seahawks defeated the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday afternoon, 28-22, in overtime.
Super Bowl 49 will be played on Sunday, Feb. 1 in Glendale, Ariz., where the Patriots lost Super Bowl 42 to the New York Giants in 2008. Kick off is at 6:30 p.m. Be sure to follow all of the pre-game and live action on 102.9, The Blimp. Go Pats!
