Despite missing several starters on defense, the New England Patriots were able to shutdown Phillip Rivers and beat the Chargers 23-14.The Patriots offense struggled for most of the night but scored 10 points in the second half to take the lead and get the win. After kicking a field goal to take the lead, Tom Brady provided a little cushion by hitting Julien Edelman for a 69 yard touchdown pass, a career long for the Pats wide receiver. Edelman finished with 141 yards on 8 catches.

The defense allowed just one of the Chargers touchdowns and held Rivers to 189 yards passing while only allowing 53 rushing yards.

New England improves to 10-3 on the season and return to Foxboro Sunday to face the Dolphins.
