One man was injured in a head-on collision Tuesday afternoon at the Madawaska Maliseet First Nation, near Edmundston, New Brunswick.

According to CIMT-TV, a car was traveling east on Highway 144 and was attempting to turn into the entrance of The Pirate Restaurant when it was struck by an oncoming car.

RCMP and emergency personnel were called to the scene and removed the driver of the second car from the wreckage. He was transported by ambulance to the Edmundston Regional Hospital with significant injuries to his neck and legs.  There’s no word on his condition today.

The cars appeared to be totaled. The RCMP continue to investigate the crash.
