According to Grand Falls RCMP, two vehicles collided on Route 144 around 11:45 a.m. Sunday. That road follows the St. John River along the border between New Brunswick and Maine.

Police say the driver of one of the vehicles, Alphée Bellefleur of Saint-André, died at the scene.

A 66-year-old woman, who was a passenger in Bellefleur's vehicle, along with two people in the other car, a 22-year-old man and his 18-year-old female passenger, were all taken to the hospital with undetermined injuries.
