One Dead, Five Injured in Ashland Crash

One man is dead and five people are injured after a late night accident on Route 11 in Ashland.

According to Sgt. Jarad Carney of the Ashland Police Department, just before 11:00pm Wednesday a pickup was heading north on Route 11 when the driver lost control of the truck about 3 miles south of town. The vehicle struck a utility pole and drifted into a wooded area.

A passenger, 34-year-old Joey Clark of Ashland died in the crash. The others involved were 20-year-old UMPI students Jessica Campbell and Taylor Cochran, 21-year-old Royce MacDonald of Ashland, 22-year-old Cody Levesque of Ashland, and the driver, 21-year-old Myles Bolstridge of Portage.

Campbell and Bolstridge were transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center, Carney said. The three other injured passengers were taken to the Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle, treated and released.

Trooper Rob Flynn of the Maine State Police was on hand to help reconstruct the crash, according to Sgt. Carney.

A section of Route 11 in Ashland was shut down into early Thursday while emergency crews were on the scene.

Ashland Fire and Rescue, Ashland Ambulance Department, Masardis Fire and Rescue, Crown Ambulance, U.S. Border Patrol and the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department also responded to the crash.

The accident remains under investigation. Alcohol appears to be a factor.
