Oakfield Man Charged After Log Truck Destroys House & Garage
A 34-year-old Oakfield man is facing Aggravated Criminal Mischief charges after the log truck he was operating crashed into a house and garage in Oakfield.
According to Maine State Police, at around 8:30 Saturday night, police and emergency crews responded to a motor vehicle crash on the River Road in Oakfield.
Police say 34-year-old Christopher Crowe, of Oakfield, was operating a 2002 Western Trailer Truck westbound on the River Road when he lost control of the truck on a curve. The logging truck left the roadway striking a utility pole, cutting the pole in half. The truck continued through a private lawn crashing into a residence, causing significant damage. The impact detached the garage from the house.
The truck, owned by Sides Logging of Sherman, was considered a total loss.
Crowe was arrested at the scene and charged with Aggravated Criminal Mischief. His bail is set at $10,000. He'll appear in Aroostook County Superior Court in December.
Crowe was taken by a personal vehicle to Houlton Regional Hospital to be treated for minor injuries. There were no reports of any injuries to the residents of the home.
Maine State Police, the Aroostook County Sheriff's Office, Maine DEP, Oakfield Fire Department and Emera Maine responded to the scene.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending.
