The nonprofit Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery Corporation is looking for volunteers to join their committee, which meets four times a year.

Those interested are welcome to sit in on a meeting to get a feel for things before they decide to join. Prospective volunteers are interviewed prior to joining the committee to see if they're a good fit.

Volunteers are expected to attend at least 2 out of 3 meetings, but attending all 4 is highly encouraged.

The Veterans Cemetery holds four services a year, Memorial Day, Veterans Day, POW/MIA Day, and a flag raising ceremony.

Volunteers are charged with the enhancement and beautification of the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Caribou and are expected to carry out committee assignments.

You don't have to be a veteran to become a volunteer, anyone willing to help is welcome.

If you'd like to volunteer, contact Harry Hafford, Chairman of the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery Corporation, at (207) 435-6024 or (207) 768-0525 and visit maineveteranscemeterycaribou.org.
