Just minutes after the stroke of midnight as people in the County were welcoming the new year, the very first baby in the state of Maine was born at Northern Light A.R. Gould Hospital in Presque Isle.

Karly Drue Williams will forever lay claim to not only being the first baby born in the County, but the first baby born in Maine in 2019!

She was born to Danielle Doyle and Kyle Williams of Houlton at 12:09 a.m. and weighed in at 8lbs. 1 oz. and was 19 inches long.

As soon as Danielle's water broke, the couple made the 45 mile trip to Presque Isle in hopes of welcoming the new addition to their family.

When Danielle arrived at Northern Light A.R. Gould Hospital, two other potential mothers were there as well. The other two moms delivered in 2018 and Danielle delivered Karly in 2019.

Dr. Quang Nguyen from Northern Light OB/GYN delivered Karly into the world and was assisted by nurses from the hospital's Women & Children Unit.

Karly is the fourth child in the blended family and joins older siblings Blake, Harmonee, and Maliya.

According to mom Danielle, the other kids are quite excited about the new addition.

Congratulations to mom and dad and a warm welcome to Karly into the world!
