The Village of Stanley will be hosting a welcome home celebration for 12-year-old Alyssa Clarke on Sunday, November 17th at a local arena.

For nearly two years, Alyssa battled congestive heart failure before finally being admitted to Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children at the first of this year.  She received a donor heart on Aug 20th and it was hoped she could be back home in time for Christmas.  Alyssa’s recovery has gone well and she recently returned home after ten months in hospital.

The community celebration will be held upstairs at the Agrena in Stanley on Nov. 17th starting at 3:30 p.m. Atlantic Time.  They’ll be serving cake, juice, tea and coffee. Everyone is welcome to come out and show their support for this amazing girl.

Alyssa’s family asks that if you're feeling under the weather, with a cold, sore throat, etc., to please not attend the event as Alyssa’s immune system is low due to transplant medications.

You can find out more about the Alyssa Clarke Welcome Home Celebration on Facebook.
