Pittsburgh Pirates broadcaster Tim Neverett is the new Boston Red Sox radio voice. He takes the spot vacated by Dave O'Brien who is now with NESN.

WEEI radio in Boston is the flagship Sox station and Neverett is their choice among 200 candidates.

Neverett is a New Hampshire native and began his play-by-play career with the Nashua Pirates at the age of 19.

For the past seven seasons, he has broadcast Pittsburgh Pirates games on both radio and TV. Neverett also has broadcast Colorado Rockies games.

He will join Hall of Famer broadcaster Joe Castiglione in the Sox radio booth.
