The State Fire Marshal’s Office says a Rockland man has been arrested, accused of setting fire to a neighbor’s mobile home in Tuesday morning. 


Three people were asleep inside the home at the time. No one was injured. Investigators say gasoline was used to start the fire which caused minor damage to the mobile home.

Fire Marshal Investigators, working with the Rockland Police and Fire departments, charged 42-year-old, Timothy Barbeau, with two counts of arson and one count of aggravated attempted murder, said police.

Barbeau was tackled at the fire scene by a neighbor, who held him until Rockland Police arrived to take him into custody, said police. He is being held at the Knox County Jail.

The fire was at 23 Third Street was reported about 7am. Barbeau lives at 2 Second Street, both in the Sunset Terrace mobile home park.
