Near Death Youngster Released From Hospital
A toddler rescued by a passer-by after being seen floating face-down in the Kennebec River has been released from the hospital.
The Kennebec Journal reports that the Augusta Police Department continues to investigate the Sept. 16 incident.
The boy, wearing a diaper and hoodie, was unresponsive and turning blue when he was pulled from the water by a Dresden man. Sean Scanlon pulled the youngster to the riverbank and began chest compressions until emergency responders arrived. The boy was revived and taken to the hospital.
Augusta police have declined to identify the boy or his guardians. Police have said they were waiting to see the medical condition of the boy before deciding whether to bring charges.
