George Jaime Sr. of Presque Isle is charged in the death of 38-year-old Starlette Vining, who was in a relationship with Jaime when she was last seen 15 years ago.

Police say Vining was working at Smythe’s IGA in Presque Isle in October 1998 when she suddenly stopped coming to work, and never picked up her last paycheck. Family members did not officially report her missing until 2006, saying she was sometimes out of touch for years at a time and was known to relocate from place to place. Vining’s body was never found.

Jaime has been held without bail since his arrest at the Star City Trading Post on Main Street in Presque Isle in July 2012.

Jury selection wrapped up last week in Aroostook County Superior Court in Houlton.  Assistant Attorney General Andrew Benson is prosecuting the case.

Jaime is being represented in court by Attorney Jeffrey Silverstein of Bangor.
