The northern Maine-based Maine Mutual Group has made a $10,000 donation in support of the 2014 Biathlon event, which will take place from February 28th through March 7th. The last Youth/Junior Biathlon World Championships that were held at the Nordic Heritage Center were in 2006, bringing in young athletes from all over the world.

MMG President and Chief Executive Officer Larry Shaw said there are two primary reasons that the company chose to sponsor the event. “We feel a responsibility to support the Nordic Heritage Club in general, because of the benefits the facility brings to our community and employees.” said Shaw. "We also sponsored this event because of the positive impact it has on our community both from an economic and cultural impact.”
