MLB Draft Week: Will Dexter Name Be Called?
Despite getting knocked out of their conference tournament and not getting a NCAA at-large bid, the USM Huskies will finish the year ranked 25th in the nation.
The D3baseball.com/NCBWA season ending poll puts national champion Trinity(Texas) as #1. Tufts(#13) and USM are the only New England Division III schools to make the final poll.
Now USM baseball observers focus on this week's MLB Amateur Draft which starts Thursday. Will Huskies SS Sam Dexter get picked? Will he get signed by a team after the draft?
Dexter(Messalonskee HS) finished his career at USM as a two-time All-American. He batted .404 with 5 HR and 44 RBI. Dexter stole 19 bases. Lontime USM coach Ed Flaherty has called Dexter this most talented player he has coached.
The MLB draft is 40 rounds and is conducted Tursday through Saturday.
