Los Angeles-based Americana duo Michigan Rattlers are premiering their track “Last Week” exclusively for readers of The Boot.

Comprised of guitarist Graham Young and bassist Adam Reed, the Michigan Rattlers are an alt-country act on the rise. The song “Last Week” is about sitting just on the other side of a love gone wrong -- subject matter that should be familiar to just about everyone. The track offers ear-catching guitar riffs, thumping bass and a heavy sprinkling of steel guitars that build to a substantial, if airy, Americana vibe; readers can press play below to listen.

“Last Week” comes from the Michigan Rattlers’ debut EP, set for release this fall. The band’s name is derived from a rare breed of snake, an homage of sorts to the duo’s uniqueness. It’s a name that lets you in on where they’re from (Petoskey, Mich.) and who they are.

“A Michigan Rattler is an actual snake," Reed explains. “There aren’t a lot of them, and they’re hard to find.”

The Michigan Rattlers are scheduled to play on Friday and Saturday (Oct. 7 and 8) at Kid Rock's annual Fish Fry in Nashville. Fans can keep up to date on the duo's goings-on and upcoming tour dates on their official website.
