FRYEBURG, Maine (AP) — Officials say a man suffered a head injury during a competition and had to be airlifted from the Fryeburg Fair.

Fair officials say the 59-year-old man was injured when a horse stepped on him during a pulling event Friday night.

Officials tell the Sun Journal that the man was conscious when medical crews arrived; he was flown to Central Maine Medical Center as a precaution.

The man's identity wasn't released.

Pulling competitions feature horses pulling weights behind them. Both ox and horse pulling events were held at the fair Friday.
