Man Barricaded Inside Home in Hampstead Surrenders [UPDATE]
RCMP say a 47-year-old man who barricaded himself inside a home on Highway 102 between Fredericton and Saint John surrendered after a 21-hour standoff.
Shortly after 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to a residence in Hampstead, where a man had barricaded himself inside his home and was refusing to come out, according to Officer Chantal Farrah of the New Brunswick RCMP.
RCMP negotiators were called to the scene and road blocks were set up on Highway 102 near Hampstead Ferry Road.
Farrah said the man surrendered without incident shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday.
RCMP say the man was charged Friday with sexual assault and child exploitation.
