On Sunday, January 29, police received a complaint that red paint had been sprayed onto the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) memorial in Victoria Park. The monument honours Moncton firefighters who died serving the people of Moncton. Red paint was also sprayed on the Moncton Police Force memorial honouring officers killed in the line of duty.

Police were able to identify the suspect based on information received from the general public.  Sgt. André Pepin said the man, of no fixed address, was arrested without incident on St. George Street near Victoria Park.

The man is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday to face charges related to the vandalism.
