The West District RCMP has arrested a man in connection with an alleged hit-and-run on Tobique First Nation that injured a young child.

Shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday, police received a 911 call of a hit-and-run on River Road. Corporal Marty Van Dijk of theTobique First Nation RCMP said a 6-year-old girl was riding a bicycle and was struck by a vehicle. The driver of the car fled the scene. Police say the child sustained minor injuries.

Later that same night, a 38-year-old man from Tobique First Nation was arrested. He was released on a promise to appear in Woodstock Provincial Court on October 2.
