Maine’s Finley Works Williamsport [VIDEO]
They always say it is best when the umpire is never noticed in a game. But, did you happen notice the man in blue behind home plate at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania?
That was Bill Finley, the chief umpire for Maine District #6 in southern Maine. He called the balls and strikes in Chinese Taipei's 16-4 win over Canada.
He's just the fourth Mainer to get a Williamsport assignment. Brewer Harry Dalton worked it back in the 1960's, Dave Adams in 1998 and Bangor Chris Parker worked the LLWS in 2009.
Finley has been a Little League umpire for 26 years.
