A Gardiner, Maine woman is facing a prison sentence after pleading guilty in U.S. District Court to conspiracy to distribute heroin and cocaine base known as 'crack.'

According to court records, 31-year old Heather Downs of Gardiner, Maine conspired with others to acquire heroin and crack in Rochester, New York between June 2015 and March 2017 with the intent to transport the drugs for distribution to Central Maine.

Downs assisted Rochester dealers in the distributing of the narcotics in Central Maine.

She faces up to 20 years in prison, between three years and a life on supervised release, and a $1,000,000 fine.

The case was investigated by many different agencies to include the Maine DEA, Kennebec Sheriff's Department, and assistance provided by the Augusta Police Department.
