With June being National Safety Month, what better way to celebrate our state, which is one of the top safest states in the country!

WalletHub released a recent report showing 2017's Safest States in America. They do this, in part, to help people and families find a good, safe place to raise their family, own property, do business and live life.

WalletHub based their findings on 37 key metrics which include, but are not limited to, assaults per capita to unemployment to total loss amounts from climate disasters per capita.

Probably not surprising to say that the northeast is a safe place to live. The state of Maine came in second, just behind Vermont in the overall study.

However, Maine is the number one state for fewest assaults per capita. Vermont came in second. For a state that doesn't have the best economy in the nation, our safety rate is something to be thankful for.

Here is how Maine fared overall.

Now that we know Maine is one of the safest states to live in, just a reminder to you and your family to be safe as you take off this year to enjoy the fun outdoor amenities that Maine has to offer.
